Weather Alert – Hurricane Sam

Weather Alert — HURRICANE SAM: The Bermuda Weather Service ( and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) ( continue to monitor Hurricane Sam.  Per the Bermuda Weather Service, a Tropical Storm Watch is now in effect.  High pressure will convey partly cloudy skies and light wind through today.  However, as Hurricane Sam draws closer to the Island, we can expect increasing northerly wind on Friday which peaks early Saturday morning, then gradually easing Saturday afternoon and night.  Cooler and dry weather is expected thereafter under building high pressure.  Likewise, NHC reports that although the core of Sam is forecast to pass east of Bermuda early Saturday, the tropical-storm-force wind field is forecast to expand and could pass very close to the island beginning late Friday night or early Saturday.


Actions to Take:  All U.S. citizens living in, visiting, or traveling to Bermuda should monitor local weather reports and follow directions from local officials.
