U.S.-Bermuda Exchange Program Looks at Disability Rights

WHEN:          11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016

WHERE:       A. B. Place Press Centre, Global House, Church Street

U.S. Consul General Mary Ellen Koenig and Minister of Health, Seniors and Environment, the Hon. Jeanne Atherden, JP, MP, will discuss how the United States and Bermuda are continuing to advance bilateral relations through participation in State Department exchange programs.

Their comments will be followed by a short presentation by Mrs. Kelly Madeiros, the U.S. Consulate’s first participant in a Multiregional Project through the International Visitor Leadership Program.  Mrs. Madeiros is the Coordinator at the Department of Court Services and was instrumental in developing and implementing the Mental Health Treatment Court Pilot Program. She has served on the Disability Advisory Committee since 2010 and assisted in writing the National Policy on Disabilities.  Following her presentation, Mrs. Madeiros will be available for interviews and questions.
