For nonimmigrant visa (NIV) applications, we only accept appointment requests from Bermudians, Bermuda residents, or individuals physically present in our Consular district. The provisions of 22 CFR 41.101(a) preclude acceptance or processing of a regular type NIV application when the applicant is neither a resident of, nor physically present in, this Consular district at the time of application.
In most cases, you should schedule a NIV appointment for your visa interview at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country of residence. You may attempt to schedule an interview at another U.S. Embassy or Consulate, but be aware that it may be more difficult to qualify for a visa outside of the country where you are from or currently reside. If you are physically present in Bermuda, you must be prepared to wait the processing time of the application, which may be as long as three to four months or more.

For immigrant visa (IV) applications, we only accept appointment requests from Bermudians, Bermuda residents, or individuals physically present in our Consular district – provided the applicant expects to remain in our Consular district throughout the several months that it normally takes to process an application and can legally do so.
