- United States – Bermuda: A Special Relationship
Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory which has a long-standing economic and security relationship with the United States. U.S. Consulate General Hamilton is responsible for strengthening the relationship between the United States and Bermuda and for protecting American citizens who live, work, and visit the island. An estimated 8,000 U.S. citizens reside in Bermuda and more than 625,000 visit each year.
International business and tourism are the main economic drivers to the local economy, which includes a high level of support from the United States, especially through the re/insurance industry and high volume of American visitors each year. The United States is Bermuda’s largest source of imports, providing over 80% of imported goods.
