Hurricane Season Alert: Security Message — Atlantic Hurricane Season. The Atlantic hurricane season commences June 1 and continues through November. Since Bermuda could be in the path of at least some of these storms we urge U.S. citizens residing in, visiting, or traveling to Bermuda to prepare for hurricane season and to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (https://step.state.gov/step/) so we can better assist you in an emergency. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us. As approaching storms threaten the island, we will send messages to you with forecast updates and further safety instructions.
Weather Alert: As reported by the Bermuda Weather Service, a low pressure system to the northeast is expected to drift towards the area today (May 21st) through early Saturday after which it quickly lifts away to the northeast. The Bermuda Weather Service continues to monitor this low for possible subtropical development. Regardless of development, the low will bring strong winds and maintain periods of wet weather into Saturday. A tropical storm watch remains in effect. This is a timely reminder that all residents should conduct hurricane planning and update their plans. Early preparation is critical. Do not wait until the last minute to prepare your house and family.
Actions to Take: All U.S. citizens living in, visiting, or traveling to Bermuda should monitor local weather reports and follow directions from local officials.
