The below information is provided in addition to the above website and also includes information specific to the U.S. Consulate General in Bermuda.

Generally, a citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must first obtain a visa, either a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.  Temporary work visas are for persons who want to enter the United States for employment lasting a fixed period of time, and are not considered permanent or indefinite.  Each of these visas requires the prospective employer to first file a petition with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  An approved petition is required to apply for a work visa.

All visa interview requests are currently being processed via email.  If you have all required documentation and would like to inquire about setting a visa appointment, please email HamiltonConsulate@state.gov.  If we are able to process your visa application we will notify you via email.  At least one week in advance of your appointment, you must provide a copy of your I-797 or I-129 via e-mail at HamiltonConsulate@state.gov.  Visa application fees are paid at the Consulate on the day of your appointment.  L visa applicants included in a L blanket petition: You must also pay the Fraud Prevention and Detection fee and may need to pay the Border Security Act fee.  Select All Fees to learn more.

Citizens of Bermuda, with a Bermuda passport, do not require visas to enter the United States as temporary workers; however, a temporary worker petition approved by USCIS is required.

You do not generally need a work visa if your foreign company sends you to the U.S. for short (e.g. 3 months or less) training programs or to conduct business on behalf of your employer, as long as your place of employment remains your foreign company.

Also, spouses and children of H, L, O, and P (not Q) visa holders are eligible to accompany the principal applicant so long as the principal applicant is able to show that he/she will be able to support his/her family while in the United States.
